VA250 MOBILE MUSEUM TOUR COUNSELOR

(Part-Time)

Richmond, VA

The Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) is seeking a Tour Counselor for its VA250 Mobile Museum Experience. The Mobile Museum will travel throughout Virginia and other states, serving as a traveling advertisement that promotes tourism destinations and events related to VA250 events in Virginia.

Responsibilities:

· Set-up of interior/exterior exhibits at deployment venues

· Assist with the coordination of delivery and proper placement of the exhibit

· Guide visitors through the mobile tour’s exhibits

· Provide information to visitors on VA250 related events, programs, and tourism destinations in Virginia

· Serve as an effective representative and ambassador of both Virginia American Revolution 250 Commission and VTC

· Assist with the coordination of on-site volunteers

· Assure accessibility to disabled individuals

· Report timely results of events within one week after event close, typically within one week, as assigned

· Considerable travel within Virginia and surrounding states, up to 40 weeks per year

Skills:

· Exceptional oral and written communications skills with individuals of all levels

· Excellent organizational and time management skills

· Ability to manage large groups

· Ability to effectively manage multiple projects

· Excellent organizational and time-management skills

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and work collaboratively within a team environment

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

· Proficiency using multiple software packages including Microsoft Office Suite

Experience:

§ At least 2 years’ experience in marketing, hospitality, event management, or related field preferred

§ Awareness of sociological and political aspects of the American Revolution and founding of our nation

§ Valid Virginia driver’s license and clean driving record required, CDL a plus

§ Experience driving a ¾ ton truck or greater with trailer is a plus
