Mid-Level Scientist (Forensic/Analytical Chemist) - CBP (Hybrid) Location: U.S. Customs and Border Protection - Sterling, VA (Hybrid) BluePath Labs is an award-winning, rapidly growing management consulting company supporting a variety of Federal clients on urgent national security requirements. We are seeking a Mid-Level Scientist to support a 24/7 watch floor operation. There may be shift work and work schedules may vary depending on mission requirements. Candidates must be able to pass a technical evaluation and a government background investigation to be considered. This is an exciting and fast-paced opportunity to have a positive impact on the Nation. The position is located at a government site near Sterling, VA. Responsibilities: Conduct technical reviews of report findings from reachback staff. Perform analysis of FTIR and Raman spectra with or without reference libraries. Perform other WMD spectral analyses including radiation. Predict FTIR spectra based on chemical structure. Report findings of FTIR and Raman spectra analysis. Prepare and give oral and written reports on findings as directed within given time and mission parameters. Prepare monthly reports of reachback activity and chemical identifications. Provide troubleshooting and technical support for field chemical screening devices. Create and maintain centralized libraries of FTIR and Raman spectra. Desired Qualifications: U.S. Citizen. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in a physical science or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Successfully completed one semester of organic chemistry and one semester of analytical chemistry. 1-3 years' experience in laboratory analysis and testing, general spectroscopy, and/or interpretation of spectral data. Good written and oral communication skills. Proficient in MS Office suite and computer skills.
