Gateway Human Factors Engineer
This position will be within the Leidos Space Exploration and Mission Operations division, which supports the Human Health and Performance Contract at NASA Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas. We have a myriad of specialized teams focused on and delivering analysis and technology in support of the Artemis mission – to establish a sustained human presence in outer space.Specifically, this role is with the Human Factors and System Management team, which supports the Habitability and Human Factors Branch. This team leverages experience with both cognitive human factors and ergonomic research and evaluations to provide research, analysis, evaluation and usability testing of hardware and software crew interfaces for cockpits, habitats, spacesuits, and equipment, including computer displays and controls and workstation systems.
The candidate will mainly support the Gateway Program but may also support other Artemis exploration projects, like Orion. Typical activities consist of providing support to the design and development of the human-system interfaces, including requirements interpretation and verification planning and testing, task analysis, human error analysis, and iterative crew evaluations.
US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency and the ability to successfully obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance are required.
General Duties include:• Provide human factors consulting services to include design, prototyping, surveys/interviews, heuristic evaluation, cognitive walkthroughs, and/or usability testing of human-system interfaces, including Gateway displays and controls.
• Provide verification planning and execution for requirements such as usability, workload, error, information management, automation levels, anthropometry, range of motion, and strength.
• Support technical reviews such as Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR).
