About the Role

The Company is in search of an Assistant Provost/Senior Director of Academic Labor Relations to join their team. The successful candidate will be a strategic and innovative leader with a strong background in labor relations, particularly in the context of higher education. This role is pivotal in supporting labor negotiations with faculty, graduate assistants, and post-doctoral employees, and may involve serving as the principal negotiator. The Assistant Provost will work closely with senior leadership to develop and implement bargaining strategies, provide guidance on the interpretation of collective agreements, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and policies. A key aspect of the position is the commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace and to upholding the values of the institution. Applicants for the Assistant Provost/Senior Director position at the company should have an advanced degree, with a preference for a J.D., and at least 5 years of professional experience in labor and employee relations, including collective bargaining. The role requires excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to build collaborative relationships, and a deep understanding of the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working with labor unions, resolving workplace issues, and maintaining confidentiality. Experience in a higher education or public sector setting is highly valued, and knowledge of Massachusetts labor laws is a plus. The Assistant Provost will be expected to be a trusted partner, a credible leader, and a champion of best practices in labor relations.
