Specific Job Title: Admission Counselor

Reports to: Associate Director of Admission

Job Summary: Reporting to the Associate Director of Admission, the Admission Counselor will assist in developing and executing an effective recruitment strategy to meet undergraduate enrollment goals.

Essential Functions:

1. Research, develop, and execute a recruitment schedule, including high school visits, college fairs, and recruitment events.
2. Provide recruitment reports and updates as necessary.
3. Cultivate strong relationships with guidance and college counselors.
4. Review undergraduate admission applications in accordance with departmental policies.
5. Assist with daily operations of the Office of Admission through presentations, interviews, and events.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Relevant experience in admission, enrollment management, or higher education preferred.
2. Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.
3. Understanding of discretion related to handling confidential information required.
4. Flexibility to work occasional evenings, mornings, and weekends required.
5. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Technolutions Slate, and Ellucian Banner preferred.
6. Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities with changing deadlines preferred.

Physical Demands:

Occasionally required to stand, move about, sit, carry work, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, and communicate. Must occasionally lift or move up to 25 lbs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Occasional early morning, night, and weekend hours are required.

Travel:

This position requires extensive travel during the traditional undergraduate recruitment seasons, both domestic and international, with possible overnight travel.

Required Education and Experience:

A bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Experience in admission or higher education preferred.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

A valid driver’s license is required.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary is $64,350. St. John’s University considers various factors when extending an offer.

This position may be relocated to any of St. John’s University’s locations at any time.
